About the Quinta
The Quinta do Outeiro is a beautifully restored manor house in the heart of Portugal’s Douro valley. Nestling within its own five hectares (twelve acres) of cultivated farmland, it has several thousand fruit trees, extensive vineyards, and some stunning views into the valley.
With great character and charm, the Quinta is open for tourism with a wide range of accommodation to suit every need. We have en-suite bedrooms in the main house available on a bed and breakfast basis, cottages within the Quinta grounds available as superbly equipped self-catering accommodation, two self-contained mini-suites with kitchenettes and four highly-appointed guest suites (three with one king size bedroom and one with two king size bedrooms) each with en-suite facilities, sitting area and kitchen/dinning. With three swimming pools set over three terraces (each with great views!), all of the Quinta guest accommodation is within just a few steps of a swimming pool. As well as the three pool terraces, we offer our guests historic formal gardens, a sanctified chapel and full access to the extensive grounds, all of which make the Quinta do Outeiro an ideal location for holiday breaks, weddings and corporate hospitality events. Breakfast is included for guests staying in the main house bedrooms, which is served in the light and airy breakfast room, while residents in the various cottages and suites have full use of their own spacious and fully equipped kitchens. Should any guests in the cottages or suites like to have breakfast in the main house, we are very happy to provide this as an option.
A few minutes’ drive brings you to Caldas de Aregos (3.5km), famous for its hot springs, the Douro riverside, boat marina, bars and restaurants, and the market town of Resende (3.9km) with its shops, supermarkets and several restaurants serving regional delicacies and traditional Portuguese meals. Porto International Airport is a 75-minute drive.
The Quinta maintains its traditional activity as a working farm producing wines, olives and olive oil, many types of fruit and honey, which means you can experience life on a traditional Quinta while enjoying the pool or resting in the formal gardens. When you remember your Quinta stay we want you to think of comfort, tranquillity and relaxation.
But if you feel more adventurous why not engage in activities on the farm or in the locale? The area is ideal for hunting and fishing and will appeal to ornithologists, photographers, walkers and cyclists, wine enthusiasts – in fact anyone who loves to come and sample the warm Portuguese welcome for which this region is renowned.
Whether you choose to visit the farm to walk the nearby hillsides, sail on the Douro, fish one of the many mountain rivers, immerse yourself in the music and culture of this fabulous country, or simply choose to take life at a leisurely pace within our private and extensive grounds, our aim at the Quinta do Outeiro is to provide you with the ideal base for an experience which we hope you will never forget.
